Steps to Setup Wireless Range Extender

- The range extender should be plugged into an electrical outlet near your router. Lately, you may change the range extender to the best spot. The front light will flicker blue for up to a minute once the range extender is plugged in.
- Before continuing, wait for the range extender’s front light to blink orange. This could take a minute or more.
- Press your router’s WPS button. Press the WPS button on the side of your range extender throughout the following two minutes.
- Move your extender to the halfway between your router and the extender.
- At the end after the setup, you can connect your devices with new extended network as its shares the same WiFi SSID and password. As you move around your home, connected devices will choose between the main and extended networks.
Steps to Setup Wired Range Extender
In wireless range extender; you can setup the range extender using Ethernet cable.
- First place the range extender next to the router and secure the both ends of Ethernet cable by inserting into a router and extender. Plug in the extender to a working outlet. Wait for the light on Linksys range extender to blink orange.
- Connect your device like, PC or laptop with extender default network. Go to WiFi settings on your device and look Linksys extender network, connect to that network and there is no password yet.
- Open a web browser and type extender.linksys.com and hit enter.
- You are directed to the login page; here you need to login by typing default credentials. Default credentials are admin/admin or admin/password. To know the exact, check the label of your Linksys extender.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. You can customize the settings of range extender at this step, as per your need such as, changing SSID and password, adding guest network and so on.
Note: You will receive a page warning you that you have not connected to your range extender if you are not on the setup network. The screen will ask if you want to access settings on a range extender you have previously set up or set up a new one. Occasionally, a 404 not found error page will appear. Try again after clearing the cache in your browser if that occurs.

Connect your WiFi Devices to extended Network, You Just Created:
Your expanded WiFi network will have the same network name and password if you have your range extender set up with a router that supports seamless roaming. As you travel around your home, connected devices will choose between the main and extended networks.
Use the WiFi management on your device to choose an extended network if your router does not support seamless roaming. “_Ext” is appended to the end of your primary network names to identify extended networks. The passwords for your primary networks will be same.
